THE
MOST FASCINATING THING I HAVE DONE IN CLASS 6
‘Innovation is the end result of all true
learning.’-Leo Buscaglia
My
class 6 sessions was by far the best session till date as all of my teachers
and friends were the way I dreamt of. DREAM? Yes, it was indeed a dream that I
had that night before the first day of my school for that new session. Life in
that dream brought all my close friends near me. I got up to get ready for the
school, went to the school and OMG! Is it called “Dreams come true”? Most of
them were in my class. The session for the whole year became as amazing as it
could be though the number of subjects had increased.
It
was flowing full of fun and days of summer vacation arrived. We were given a few
craft homework by our teacher. One morning, I was completing those craft work
with different craft papers bought from market. In between I stared out of the
window and found that our gardener was burning the old newspapers outside in
the lawn. Smokes surfaced through the air creating severe pollution in the
surrounding. My eyes started burning like anything and I could not continue my
work further. I splashed some water in my eyes and lied down in bed. I started
thinking of possibilities of any alternative which could be utilized in a
constructive way. Why should we burn something that we created and create
nuisance in atmosphere which is in all sense harmful and poisonous to us?
Why couldn’t we create something out of it which was beneficial to us and our
surroundings? Why couldn’t I contribute with the knowledge that my teachers had
imparted with care to us? Was it not the call of the day to apply that
knowledge? Yes. I got the response of my inner soul. This was the time to
recollect those learning and apply to bring betterment which could preserve
fresh air full of oxygen. I jumped out of the bed and started surfing internet.
Was there anything possible to reuse those papers? My computer said: “Yes, it
is possible; you can use it in your craft work taught by your own teacher”. I
browsed my school’s craft copy to explore that there were many items like pen
stand, flower vase, etc., shown by our teacher, could be made with old
newspapers. I found this subject interesting as it gave an alternative way of
recycling and reusing of newspapers. I also made paper bags from those
newspapers. You the person who is reading, can also try these methods as it
will help your concern of reducing plastic in day to day life. It will also
reduce deforestation by reducing use of objects like wooden pen stand and frame
which are obtained by cutting trees. These small steps can initiate our own
“Think clean to go Green, Go Green to keep this world clean” objective and save
our mother earth from dirt and
pollution.
Now
due to COVID 19 lockdown we all are confined at home. We can’t go to our second
home which is our school, we are missing our friends and our beloved teachers.
We are missing our days of childhood. My parents are saying that psychologists
are recommending that children should get involved in different activities. I
don’t know but taking it as proverb, I did recollect and realized that the
craft that I learned in class 6, can give me the way to utilize my time
generously. I have started making more innovative things by which I can
contribute profusely to the society as a whole.
Learning
to surf internet was one of the most fascinating things that I could expertise
in class 6. I created my own Google account and learned to manage it. This is
helping me now. HOW? Today, during the time of lockdown when our online
classes are going on in full swing, my learning are helping me to handle my own
class matters single handedly and without the help of my parents, to be
precise.
During
the period of lockdown, everyone must stay at home as we have to fight against
the COVID-19 epidemic and staying at home is the only vaccine for this virus.
Stay home, stay safe. Use your time to innovate new ideas, implement “Make in
India" initiative and contribute to our nation.
